Tulip coloured by Vampirbiene Tulip coloured by Vampirbiene
I thought I give it a try and colour my drawing because my son was constantly asking if he could colour it.

Well, that's the result of my first try ever to colour something in Gimp (using my mouse touchpad because I'll probably never get used to my tablet).

 My graphite pencils are down to thumbsize :-) I realize that I need different pencils, obviously these school pencils produce all the same strokes no matter if they're bold or not :-(
My son wanted me to buy new canvas anyway, so I just ordered a bunch of good pencils which will remind me to continue drawing!

At the moment, I'm so excited to get the delivery because I found a pencil that I have been looking for for ages. Back in the day (I'm soooo old ) when I drew more actively, I wanted to try one of the old techniques, but this was when there wasn't so much e-commerce like today, and I just couldn't find a shop which would sell this special kind of crayon. I hope I can try it next week already!

I'm too lazy to look it up. It's this red chalk that was already used centuries ago. It's now available as pencils which should be easier to work with. I always wanted to try that. I also ordered a bunch of charcoal which I haven't worked with in a long time. I'm so excited :boogie:

Very pretty in color. I like this! I'm so happy you are getting back your art skills and interests. You should do a booklet of illustrations of local flowers with or without poetry. I would love to do that myself. But my drawing skills are not good, and my poetry is still ups and downs. :)

Thank you, Claudia.
I have more downs in writing than ups at the moment.
Probably, I need a break although everyone's telling me that one has to write on a daily basis to really learn. I have been writing so much during the past three or four years that I just feel visual at the moment. Maybe it's even good to catch up with other things from time to time.

re, writing on a daily basis. You can do that even in comments and notes. I write a lot every day, whether comments, notes, email. It keeps the mind active, the skills honed, and allows you to be a little creative even there, so that you don't get rusty. It's what brought me back to my writing after my severe illness in 1987 and 1992, and has carried me through such awful times, including atm. I would not have made it through, w/o it. No way.

But, yeah, sometimes you just have to put the creative part of your mind/feelings on the back burner for a while, to percolate until they start to bubble over again and insist you do something with them.

Well, some say you should write 1000 words a day. I better write 10 good words when I feel like it. I mean I write every day. Writing is my job, although it is never really my own because I just transport somebody else's words, but it still is writing. Some days I have to type down 3000 words and more, and then I don't feel like I can work on some creative writing as well.
Sure, I write e-mails, comments, even real letters and postcards, but if I want to write a story, I need to get everything that's haunting me off my chest. I have a major writer's block right now, and I realize where it's coming from, but as much as I want to pull myself out, I need to sort out all bad influences first, and that seems to be the harder part.

Awwww  I know about those writer's blocks. Sometimes people make me so sad or uptight I can't write what I want to write in way of stories or even poetry. Other times I can't stop writing because the people are what spur me on, usually sad events, sometimes happy or loving. I hope you will be able to remove the bad influences soon, so you can write again.

I believe that writing always needs a lot of support, someone who backs you up, emotionally, and practically, so you can focus, switch off your surroundings and just dive into your fantasy worlds. Well, I can draw while my son's playing, drawing whatever, but I can't write when I have a million things around me. Probably, I'm weird :)
